Which Canvas Size Should I Choose?

Whether you're decorating a hallway, filling a living room wall, or creating a statement piece for your office, here's a simple guide to choosing the right size.

Small Accent Pieces

8"×10", 11"×14", and 12"×16"

Perfect for shelves, desks, hallways, bedrooms, and smaller wall spaces. These sizes also make thoughtful gifts using family portraits, vacation photos, artwork, or milestone moments.

Most Popular

16"×20", 16"×24", and 18"×24"

The sweet spot for most homes and offices. Large enough to become a focal point without overwhelming the room. Great for family portraits, business photography, artwork, and lobby displays.

Statement Pieces

24"×36" and 32"×48"

Designed to command attention. Perfect above fireplaces, in conference rooms, reception areas, retail spaces, restaurants, and large living room walls where visibility matters.

Square Canvas Prints

12"×12", 16"×16", and 24"×24"

Ideal for Instagram-style photography, logos, modern artwork, children's artwork, and gallery wall arrangements. Square prints work especially well in sets or symmetrical displays.

Edge Finish Options

Edge Finish Details
White Edge Your image prints on the front face while the sides remain white for a clean, contemporary look.
Black Edge A solid black border wraps the sides, creating a bold gallery-style presentation without distracting from the artwork.
Mirrored Edge The outer edge of your image is reflected and wrapped around the sides, preserving the full front image while creating a seamless gallery appearance.

Image Quality Tips

  • Use the highest-resolution photo available — original camera or smartphone files produce the best results.
  • Avoid screenshots or images downloaded from social media — they often lack enough resolution for larger canvas prints.
  • For larger canvas sizes, higher resolution matters even more — small files may look fine on screen but appear soft or blurry when enlarged.
  • Need help? Bellia can review your file before printing and let you know if image quality may affect the finished canvas.

Canvas Print File Setup

Canvas prints are produced at the exact finished size ordered, so downloadable templates are not required. Build your artwork to the final ordered dimensions and follow the guidelines below for the best print results.

File Setup Checklist:
✔ Build artwork at the exact finished size ordered
✔ Accepted file formats: Print-ready PDF or JPEG (single page only)
✔ CMYK color mode only
✔ 150 dpi minimum at final size
✔ Maximum upload size: 300 MB
✔ Convert all fonts to outlines before exporting (PDF files)
✔ No bleed, crop marks, registration marks, or printer marks

Important: Keep important text, logos, faces, and other critical artwork at least 0.5" from every edge. During production, the canvas wraps around the stretcher bars, so artwork placed too close to the edge may wrap onto the sides of the finished canvas.

CUSTOMER QUESTIONS

Canvas Prints — Frequently Asked Questions

Which edge finish should I choose?

White Edge keeps the image on the front face with clean white sides for a modern, minimal look. Black Edge creates a bold border around the artwork without needing an external frame. Mirrored Edge reflects the outer portion of your image around the sides, creating a seamless gallery-style appearance that’s ideal when you don’t want a visible border.

What resolution should my file be?

Upload a print-ready PDF at 300 dpi at the final printed size whenever possible. High-resolution artwork is especially important for larger canvas sizes such as 24" × 36" and 32" × 48". Before submitting your order, carefully review your artwork resolution, spelling, layout, and sizing to make sure everything is correct.

Do I need to account for the wrapped edges?

Yes. If you select Mirrored Edge, part of the image wraps around the sides of the frame. Keep faces, logos, text, and other important elements safely away from the outer edges so they remain fully visible on the front of the canvas.

Are canvas prints suitable for businesses as well as home décor?

Absolutely. Canvas prints are popular for offices, conference rooms, lobbies, restaurants, retail stores, healthcare facilities, and home décor. Every canvas is professionally printed, stretched over a wood frame, finished, and arrives ready to hang.

How do I care for my canvas print?

Display your canvas away from prolonged direct sunlight and excessive humidity. Dust occasionally with a soft microfiber cloth or feather duster. Avoid abrasive cleaners, chemicals, or spraying liquids directly onto the printed surface.

How do I make sure my canvas print is correct before it’s produced?

Once you upload your artwork, you’ll review it and check a confirmation box verifying it’s correct before your order moves into production — there’s no separate proof step for uploaded artwork. If our in-house design team creates or adjusts your artwork, we’ll share a proof for your approval before it goes to print.

Can Bellia help prepare my artwork for canvas printing?

Yes. If your artwork needs resizing, cleanup, or adjustments for large-format printing, Bellia’s in-house design team can help prepare your file for the best possible print quality. Learn more about our design services.
