Page-count reminder: Saddle stitched booklets must contain a total number of pages divisible by four. Each side of a folded sheet counts as one page, including the outside and inside covers.

Build each page at the individual finished-page size and submit the pages in reading order — do not arrange them as printer spreads.

Saddle stitching is a binding method in which printed sheets are folded, nested together, and secured with staples through the center fold. It is one of the most common and cost-effective booklet-binding styles, producing a clean, professional booklet that opens easily and lies flatter than a perfect bound book. Saddle stitching is commonly used for event programs, newsletters, magazines, catalogs, manuals, and marketing booklets.
Each folded sheet creates four booklet pages: the front and back of each half of the sheet. That means the total page count must be divisible by four. An 8-page booklet uses two folded sheets, a 12-page booklet uses three sheets, and so on. If your content does not fill a multiple of four, add an intentionally blank page or adjust the layout before submitting your file.
Every saddle stitched booklet with a separate cover includes four cover pages: the outside front cover, inside front cover, inside back cover, and outside back cover. These four pages are included in the total page count. For example, “52 Pages (Cover = 4, Inside = 48)” means four cover pages plus 48 inside pages, for 52 total pages.
A self-cover booklet uses the same paper stock for the cover and all inside pages. It creates a lighter, more flexible booklet and is often the most economical option. Choose a separate 100# cover stock when you want a thicker and more substantial front and back cover.
100# Gloss Cover is a coated stock that produces vivid color and works especially well for photography, product images, and bold designs. 100# Smooth Cover has a clean, non-glossy appearance with reduced glare and is easier to write on.
100# Gloss Text is a heavier coated sheet suited to photography, catalogs, portfolios, and image-heavy interiors. 60# Text is a practical all-around choice for newsletters, programs, manuals, and general-purpose booklets. 32# Text is a lighter sheet that helps reduce the overall thickness and weight of higher-page-count booklets.
We offer saddle stitched booklets from 8 to 72 total pages, in multiples of four. The available maximum may depend on the selected cover and inside paper combination because heavier stocks create a thicker finished booklet.
Set up each page individually at the finished single-page size and arrange the pages in normal reading order. Do not submit printer spreads. Include 0.125" bleed on all sides when artwork extends to the edge, and keep text, page numbers, logos, and other important content at least 0.125" inside the trim edge and away from the center fold. Submit a print-ready PDF or high-resolution JPG in CMYK color mode at approximately 300 dpi. Before submitting your order, carefully review your artwork, spelling, page order, and sizing to make sure everything is correct.
Once you upload your artwork, you’ll review it and check a confirmation box verifying it’s correct before your order moves into production — there’s no separate proof step for uploaded artwork.
