The 4" × 9" size is the traditional rack card format and is widely used in hotel lobbies, visitor centers, restaurants, attractions, and brochure displays. The 3.5" × 8.5" size is slightly narrower and shorter, giving it a more compact profile for countertop displays, handouts, inserts, and many common literature holders. If you are unsure which size to choose, 4" × 9" is the most familiar rack card format.
100# Gloss Cover is the most popular choice, providing vibrant color and a polished finish at a good value. 100# Smooth Cover has a non-glossy surface that reduces glare and is easier to write on. Choose 120# Gloss Cover for a heavier card with vivid color or 120# Smooth Cover for the most substantial matte option.
The lower portion of a rack card may be hidden behind the front of the literature holder or other cards in a full display. Place your logo, business name, strongest headline, and most eye-catching image near the top of the design so they remain visible. Use the remaining space for services, event details, directions, contact information, QR codes, and calls to action.
Double-sided printing provides the most space for your message. A common approach is to place a strong photograph, headline, or offer on the front and use the back for services, hours, contact information, directions, maps, or QR codes. Front-only printing works well for simpler handouts or cards displayed face-up on a counter.
Submit a print-ready PDF or high-resolution JPG in CMYK color mode at approximately 300 dpi. Include 0.125" bleed on all sides and keep text, logos, QR codes, and other important content at least 0.125" inside the trim edge. Download the appropriate file from the Templates tab before creating your artwork. Before submitting your order, carefully review your artwork, spelling, layout, and sizing to make sure everything is correct.
Once you upload your artwork, you’ll review it and check a confirmation box verifying it’s correct before your order moves into production — there’s no separate proof step for uploaded artwork. If our in-house design team creates your rack card for you, we’ll share a design proof for your approval before it goes to print.
